Alex Bailey b September, 1985 ..........................Bails
active 2011-present

Alex came to Endon in 2011 and immediately displayed his cricketing pedigree as an outstanding wicket-keeper and talented batsman. In his first year his catching stats broke all Endon's behind-the-stumps records and also gave him the Most Catches award for all NSSC divisions. He also topped Endon's First Team Batting averages and was a key member of Kevin Cockerton's T/20 side that went all the way to the final in that year. In 2012 he assumed the Endon Club Captain's role.

He is also a highly-active coach, running the U-17s side in 2011, and has further developed this activity by undertaking a Level Two qualifcation. His captaincy is characterised by a professional approach to both training and preparation and he looks to attract other players to the club who share this disciplined attitude.

ACHIEVEMENTS WITH THE CLUB

Reaching the final of the T/20 is one of Alex's main playing achievement with the club so far. During that run he set the club's T/20 batting partnership record with Tom Latham and also set a new Cup match record with the same partner in Endon's Talbot Cup run in the same year.

In 2011 he topped the Endon First Team' batting averages and hunted down a record 38 catches and 10 stumpings. His best innings of 95 came against Stone SP

Taking on the captaincy of the club in 2012 he forged a combative force from a very young squad and managed to secure second spot in NSSC Division 3 to give Endon its first promotion since 199?. The team also managed to go unbeaten for ? matches. For his intense commitment and achievement he was handed the Chairman's Award for 2012.

In 2013, Alex faced the task of consolidating his young side in the higher division, looking to use the consolidation as a platform for greater success in subsequent seasons. Despite the team's tenth place the team, thanks to Alex's leadership, looked comfortable in a very tight third-flight division.

In 2015 Alex relinquished his wicket-keeping pads to concentrate on his batting, a decision that paid dividends with two centuries in that season.

Playing along side Saqlain Mushtaq when he was acting substitute professional for Burslem Cricket Club. I was lucky enough to keep wicket to Saqlain and witness first hand just why he is such a world class bowler. Saqlain Mushtaq is credited for the invention of the doosra delivery. During the three games I played with Saqlain I managed to latch onto a number of catches and stumpings.
