  PLAYER PROFILE
M.T. GIDMAN
MATT GIDMAN b. June 1976 ........................Giddy
active 1998-present

Matt is fast heading toward the Endon Cricket Club stalwart category with many years of service to his local club. Coming late to the game he is to be admired for his consistent year-by-year improvement in the technical element of his performances. Matt has served a full apprenticeship in the art of Captaincy and last year won the Chairman's Award for these leadership skills. The 2011 season saw him take the Second XI through a succesful promotion campaign blooding many junior players along the way.

RIGHT-HAND BAT

RIGHT-ARM OFF-SPIN

Earlier in his Endon career he was awarded another Chairman's award which makes him the only person in the club's history, apart from Phil Rowley, to have won it twice. Over the years he has also championed Sunday cricket and, above all things, acts as a congenial ambassador for his club.

In 2013 Matt was the leading wicket-taker at Endon CC with 54 dismissals.

ACHIEVEMENTS WITH THE CLUB

Giddy has been involved with Endon since getting involved with Pub team cricket with the Black Horse and driveway cricket against the Walton brothers. Eventually persuaded to don the whites for Sunday XI over a decade ago (1998 ish). Over the first few years he was mainly used in the Sunday XI bowling his off spin and when required stepping in to help and bowl and field in the first XI. Eventually progressing from fielding duties to slowly bowling a few overs and batting games out for draws in the second XI.  Over the years got more involved with the club helping out behind the bar. Being vice-captain in the 2nd XI for two captains. Finally taking over the mantle of 2nd XI Captain officially in 2011.
Year on year has worked hard on his bowling and batting and is improving with age.
When batting known for frustrating bowlers, slips, and gulley with his ‘I can cut or guide anything style’. People say about batting in the V, unfortunately no one told Giddy where this V was.

FAVOURITE PLACEs TO PLAY

Over Peover & Eccleshall simply brilliant teas and always field first so you can bat down the order so you can enjoy the homemade cake. Great people at both clubs.
Swynnerton Park – nice ground made 115* so must be a good track, also can’t beat the comfy sofa in the changing room.
North Perot (Somerset) – Stunning huge ground 24 tracks wide plus out field very quick and long chases to the boundary, two tier pavilion and players bar!!
