WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY: A NEW FOOTPATH IN 2011

The dangerous bend at the bottom of Stanley Bank is now improved by the provision of a fenced hardcore footpath extending to 150 metres. It follows the Endon Cricket Club road boundary. Much of the funding has been generously provided by Stanley Village Society. The Parish Council also made a contribution to the cost of the project.

The volunteer labour, working in all weathers, has mostly come from Stanley Village and Endon Cricket Club. A team from Britannia/Co-op. Building Society also helped to complete the project. Hillside Tree Services provided the use of their wood chipper on several occasions and this was of great help.

The official opening was performed by Cllr. Sybil Ralphs on Saturday April 30th. A cream tea for all those involved followed.

The project outcome demonstrates what a small group of local people can do when they set their minds to it. Those walking between Endon and Stanley now have a safer and much more pleasant journey.
